BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost utilizes the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This stops thieves from replacing the ECU or installing new locks to bypass the security system.

The Ghost is different from other immobilisers because it doesn't use key fobs or LED indicators. It makes use of the buttons on your vehicle to allow you to enter a unique sequence of disarming that you only know.

Stop & Start

If you've previously driven a brand new BMW or utilized the stop start feature then you may have noticed that after stopping the engine will continue to continue to run for around 30 seconds after releasing the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to monitor the vehicle for signals coming from the ignition key. When it detects this, the vehicle will continue to operate. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car when you press a button.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser, a next-generation device, doesn't require cutting OEM wires or to add aftermarket alarms and key fobs. It is connected to the BMW's CAN data network and programmed with an encrypted, secure PIN code that can be accessed using buttons installed in your car. This lets you enter an exact key-push sequence that isn't found present in the standard menus for media, such as volume up/down and cruise control, source or turning on air conditioning, which prevents your car from starting until the sequence is entered. The PIN can be between 4 and 20 characters, making it difficult for thieves to guess.

We can also add the ability to use a service/valet feature. This is activated while your vehicle is being serviced to ensure that the Ghost is kept from view by the garage. This can be done by pressing the service button on your infotainment device 5 times (the system will flash to confirm this) and when you return the ghost 11 immobiliser will re-arm automatically.

Service Mode / Valet Mode

The Ghost is a market-leading immobiliser ghost designed to stop your vehicle from being taken by key cloning or hacking. It makes use of the factory buttons on your vehicle to create an unique push sequence that only you can identify. It is similar to the pin code security on your mobile phone. Its discreet and incredibly effective and dissuading even the most determined thieves from ever trying!

If you're parked at your home or in a meet and greet, the Ghost can be set to service mode. This allows you to start the vehicle using your keys, but stops the engine from starting again until the correct code is entered. This is great for customers who must transfer their vehicles to valet service companies or trusted family members and friends. It also allows you to get the car into the garage for maintenance or repairs without worrying about it being damaged or stolen by a mechanic whilst you wait.

Once the valet or service mode is activated, it will stop your BMW from being able to be driven after it has been started. This prevents anyone from test driving while you are away. Once you return, the car will revert to normal and stop it from being tampered or stolen again.

We can fit the Ghost to any BMW All you need is the right keys as the device doesn't use the original remotes, and can be used with them. If you don't wish to use a mobile device or don't feel comfortable using it, we can supply an optional Bluetooth tag that can be used to disable the Ghost. This is an extra cost and requires a separate Bluetooth pairing.

Anti-Hijack

With hi-tech thieves becoming more and more sophisticated the technology in security systems has to improve, which is why Ghost has created this discrete and non-obtrusive immobiliser. It's designed to stop thieves from adding a new key or replacing the ECU in order to start your car and drive it away. Ghost is connected to your CAN network, and uses buttons on your vehicle to generate an individual push-sequence that has to be entered before the engine can begin.

If the anti-hijacking mode has been activated and the engine is restarted, any attempt to restart the engine will be stopped. The system will honk the horn, flash the indicators and stop the vehicle in the event that the code cannot be found. By entering your push sequence, or entering service mode, you can disable the Anti-Hijack function. This allows your vehicle to temporarily start without having to enter a PIN.

If you have a GPS device that is connected to your BMW and you want to utilize it to disable the Anti-Hijack function so that you can continue to use your navigation system while the vehicle is in a parking spot. You can also use your smartphone to control the anti theft feature and other functions.

This is a Tassa approved product that is recognised by most insurance companies. It can aid in reducing the risk of your pride and joy being stolen. It is discreet and completely invisible, it won't interfere with the vehicle's functionality or require any special programming skills to operate or install. It is completely undetectable to the diagnostic tools used by thieves and is immune to key cloning because it connects to the CAN data network of your vehicle.

Remote Control

We can connect the Ghost device with your mobile app to enable remote control of keyless start and go functionality. This is helpful if you are other than home and a mechanic or valet needs to start your vehicle. The system lets you start your car, select drive and quit the service mode without having to use your key fobs. You can also see your vehicle in real-time on a map displayed on your smartphone, perfect for tracking your car when moving around.

The Ghost can be fitted under the dashboard or within the center console. It is completely concealed and tamperproof and does not require any additional wiring. The device is connected to CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personalised pin code is inserted into it. This pin code has to be entered before the engine starts. This prevents thieves from bypassing the system with the cloned or replaced ECU.

If your vehicle is stolen, the Ghost will enter service mode and stop all functions unless you have a PIN code or can use the mobile application to disarm it. This is a feature that was created to safeguard your vehicle from high-tech thieves who are now utilising relay boxes to steal your vehicle. It also prevents thieves from being able to use their mobile phones to activate your sat nav or MP3 player to track your car!

Ghost also blocks the 'Relay-style Frequency amplification'. This is the most common method of stealing a vehicle with a keyfob which has been duplicated or stolen through hacking. Ghost allows you to stop this by installing a security device to prevent theft in your vehicle, called Secure-A-Key. The device is inserted into your vehicle's key-fob and disconnects the battery after a couple of minutes of inactivity. This can be done on most modern PKE key-fobs.
